Evangeline Cachinero is an Australian emerging artist based on the Sunshine Coast. She has an international background, having been raised in Australia, Spain and the USA and has been back on the coast for 10 years.
Evangeline creates mixed media works on canvas. She uses collage, drawing and painting infused into expressive works of art. Her love of colour and design comes through in her bright, bold works. Collage is a big part of the pieces, and is balanced with painting and a loose, sketchy quality. Evangeline’s work is always evolving and in constant dialogue with the current state of the art world.
Her latest series, Cutting it, is a collection of Russian Dolls depicting relationships between couples, families and friends. She has built a little town of Dolls where each painting is full of personality. Cachinero rides a thin line between the humorous and the bizarre, in line with her constant contradictions, which make her art powerful.
