Belonging, Purpose, Storytelling and Transcendence: these are thought to be The Four Pillars of a meaningful life. Evangeline Cachinero’s solo exhibition, The Four Pillars, explores this concept through a series of works that aim to allow people to think about their own personal pillars. The exhibition includes paintings, hand embroideries, various textiles and installation. Cachinero’s work explores art as a vehicle for transcendence, using exhibitions to create a space where the viewer may reflect in their own personal way. With strong ties to Andalucia and the US, Cachinero often references La Mezquita and American folk art. She has an interest in art made for religious purposes including idols, monuments, temples, churches, shrines and ritual, with a specific interest in developing a new ‘engineered transcendence’.
